Cat and Gopher Play Cat and Mouse

Wish I had a proper video camera in my pocket, rather than my cell phone cam to film this classic scene. In the steps and grass around a country church, a cat was toying with a terrified young gopher. The cat was disinterested, pawing at the gopher, cornering it, and then letting it run a few feet away, before chasing it again. Such a classic, cartoon-ish scene.

Modestmouse – Missedtheboat

Heard about a video contest for this upcoming Modest Mouse single. The contest page provided several different shots of the band in the studio, and against a green screen, recording this song. So, with that resource available, it was up to the video creator to take it from there. So, I projected the video clips into the bathroom sink and bathtub, and then using my underwater camera, filmed the scenes and then edited it back together. It got to be quite a tricky mess, in terms of trying to match up the video clips with the audio and what-not. Happy with the result, but never did hear any feedback from anyone on this video.

Woman of the Sea

Footage of Jeju Island, its waterfalls, waves, and diving woman set to the music of Jet Echo’s “Nizium.” (myspace.com/jetecho)
Most of the footage was recorded in June 2001 on a rainy day with my old Digital-8 camera. I just didn’t have any idea what to do with the footage, until I somehow thought it would go nice with this song.

Newcomer wins first Kami

short video competition

DoAn Forest with Kami

The Kamloops Art Gallery is pleased to announce the winner of the
first Kami Short Video Competition. DoAn Forest, a newcomer to
Kamloops, won the competition for the best short video about "the
place where I live." After moving here from Korea in February 2007 and
learning about the Kami competition, Forest raced to complete a video
about his new hometown. His video was chosen as the best by the
audience attending the screening competition, and Forest took home the
coveted Kami People's Choice award. The video can be seen at
http://efeele.blogspot.com/2007/03/kamloops-new-arrival.html

The screening competition, held on Sunday, March 18, 2007, featured
six 5-minute videos by participants from Kamloops and the
Thompson-Nicola Regional District. Their interpretations of the theme
"the place where I live" varied from cowboy scenes to alien
perspectives. Fueled by hot popcorn and cold drinks, audience members
made their difficult decision after viewing all six videos.

Admission fee to the screening was a donation for the Kamloops Food
Bank. The Gallery thanks the audience for contributing 26 items of
food at this small but successful event. The Gallery also extends
thanks to the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce for permission to use the
Kami mascot image on the competition trophy.
